New encaustic images, inspired by a review of some of my older photographs and the thought of printing them using new techniques. I love the look and feel of wax and the use of wood as a substrate. Some images are montaged, printed on film and transferred to wood and then coated with encaustic medium. Others are transferred to the board that's coated with wax, and collage elements added. In others I have encapsulated images on paper into the wax.

From the Show program: "Danny Conant’s At Sea, a portrait of a figure in a tightly cropped view, is rendered as a warped image, due to the alteration that occurs during the processing of an emulsion transfer. This distortion creates a reference to the sea itself, with its passenger at rest flowing with the water and the waves (or the intrinsic way of the world), instead of struggling against its current..."
